You are an intelligent, curious adult with a good dose of introspection.
And as a somatic therapist in Seattle, I specialize in exactly the connection you've already noticed: the one between your stress, your upsets, and what happens inside your body when life gets hard." suggested change: "I specialize in exactly the connection you've already been noticing: the fact that your stress and upsets relate to what happens inside your body when life gets hard.

Once you've made that connection, you're already well on your way. I'm proud to work alongside many somatic coaches and somatic therapists in Seattle, helping you find the real, learnable ways to work with your nervous system -- to gain safer access to your own feelings, improve your ability to connect with the people you love, and feel more comfortable in your own skin.

  Somatic Experiencing® is a present-moment focused, body-oriented approach to helping your nervous system learn how to access its strength, move into safety, and develop the resilience to bounce back more quickly when life hits you hard.

Sessions can all be done via video chat, allowing you stay in the comfort of your home.

Every Somatic Experiencing Practitioner has their own specialty.  Below are three kinds of clients I enjoy working with.  If you're wondering whether we're a good fit, schedule a fifteen-minute consult here.

"I've never heard of Somatic Experiencing; how do I know if it will help me?"

Somatic Experiencing (SE) isn't for everyone. It's present-moment focused, which means it may not be for you if your main goal is to understand the stories of your past.

It's also body-focused, which means it may not be for you if you want to dive into your belief systems and the meanings you make about the world.

What it is good for is helping you change, right here and right now, how your body responds to stress and discomfort.  And over a series of sessions, those changes can make a long-lasting impact.

Really, the best way to know if SE could help you is to schedule a 15 minute phone call with me (or any SE Practitioner) and have a conversation.

I would most want work with you if I think our work could make a real, positive difference in your life, so let's figure it out together.

People who want to improve their ability to connect with their loved ones.

Connecting with others requires some level of internal safety and clarity about your own feelings and needs.

We'll work together to build your ability to listen to the signals your body is sending you, to interpret your those signals, and to communicate requests, boundaries, and care to your loved ones.

People who want to understand what's going on with their bodies.

You may come to me because:

-Your guts clench or hurt when you are feeling stressed;

-Because under certain circumstances, your energy can spike faster than your mind can track;

-Or, you get itchy, twitchy, or warm when things get intense in your day-to-day;

People who have difficulty settling their nerves, even hours or days after a stressful event.

Often, your stress responses and your relaxation responses are competing for control, leaving you anxious and unsettled.  We'll train your body so it will become better able to balance the 'gas pedal' and the 'brake pedal', giving you the rest you need without sacrificing your focus and drive.
