Ease and strength. Anywhere.

Your nervous system can become capable of incredible things.  It can become capable of taking on each day's challenges with focus and determination.  It can become capable of saying "No" to the things you don't want, and pursuing the things you do want.  It can become capable of helping you feel great when things are great.

If it's been hard to access these abilities, if your days have been feeling overwhelming, exhausting, or anxiety-producing, it could be that your nervous system has gotten out of practice with these skills.  Sometimes our body gets a shock that can make it hard to feel resourceful.  That's when it can be helpful to re-train your body's ability to feel safe, to feel strong, to comfortably meet the challenges of the day.

It will take work on your part.  But the work can be engaging, even fun.
Somatic Experiencing® is the tool we'll use to get you there.

Somatic Experiencing® is a present-moment focused, body-oriented approach to helping your nervous system learn how to access its strength, move into safety, and develop the resilience to bounce back more quickly when life hits you hard.

Sessions are all done via video chat, allowing you stay in the comfort of your home.

Every Somatic Experiencing Practitioner has their own specialty.  Below are three kinds of clients I enjoy working with.  If you're wondering whether we're a good fit, schedule a free call here.

People who are finally learning to express and act on their own needs.

We'll work together to build your ability to listen to the signals your body is sending you, and to develop your body's capacity to comfortably use all kinds of emotional energy (i.e. comfortably being with anger, passion, joy, pride, etc.)
Picture

People who want to feel more comfortable with listening to and being in their bodies.

Many people have difficultly feeling the sensations of their body, and when they do, those feelings can be overwhelming.  We'll work gently and slowly to help your body become a safer place to inhabit.

People who have difficulty settling their nerves, even hours or days after a stressful event.

Often, your stress responses and your relaxation responses are competing for control, leaving you anxious and unsettled.  We'll train your body so it will become better able to balance the 'gas pedal' and the 'brake pedal', giving you the rest you need without sacrificing your focus and drive.

"I've never heard of Somatic Experiencing; how do I know if it will help me?"

Somatic Experiencing (SE) isn't for everyone. It's present-moment focused, which means it may not be for you if your main goal is to understand the stories of your past.

It's also body-focused, which means it may not be for you if you want to dive into your belief systems and the meanings you make about the world.

What it is good for is helping you change, right here and right now, how your body responds to stress and discomfort.  And over a series of sessions, those changes can make a long-lasting impact.

Really, the best way to know if SE could help you is to schedule a 15 minute phone call with me (or any SE Practitioner) and have a conversation.

I would most want work with you if I think our work could make a real, positive difference in your life, so let's figure it out together.

What stood out to me about Aaron almost right away was how patient and gentle he is.

...Aaron is amazing at holding space for any emotion, any reflex, any physical reaction - he is one of the kindest people I have worked with. Just typing these words and looking back on our work, I have tears of joy and gratitude towards Aaron because of how much he has helped me. He always had my best interest in mind.

Last week I came to session with a bloated, slightly nauseous feeling. This is just one example of many digestive issues I've dealt with over the years, and various dietary changes haven't helped much. I told Aaron about it, since one of my goals is improving my gut-brain connection.

During our session, he stayed so present with the minutiae of my feelings, which helped me stay present too. He made suggestions for movements and for what to notice, and had me place a hand over the place it hurt. After a cycle or two of activation and calm, I started yawning and wanted to lie down. I immediately got the giggles, and soon my stomach was gurgling as if finally digesting what I had eaten that day. I got some little burps, like a baby does, each one bringing a bit of relief. After our session ended, I found myself burping gently off and on for a few hours and the bloat completely gone for the rest of the day. It was so silly, surprising, and helpful.

Bringing Aaron into the experience of my gut discomfort helped me unclench and trust my body a little better. It wasn't a cure, but it was a moment of making friends with my digestive system instead of feeling frustrated and hopeless. I'm learning what it feels like to shift into "rest and digest," which in time will hopefully make it easier to do on my own when needed. I'm also able to better feel the difference between the physical sensations of my gut symptoms and the stressful emotions and judgments I have toward them.

I think of Aaron as a personal trainer for the nervous system - which directly affects the digestive system.
